A mother blessing is an alternative and/or an addition to a baby shower.
Nurture and shower a mom-to-be with affection and love before baby arrives by having a mother’s blessing to simply celebrate her and her journey into motherhood.
In offering this sacred ceremony we acknowledge all the women who have come before us, our mothers, grandmothers, our lineage, and to celebrate and honor a pregnant woman as she prepares for birth and motherhood.
The heartfelt intention in holding space for the pregnant mama, allowing the opportunity for her to open herself up to receive all the love and blessings form her sisters, friends, loved ones and community as she prepares to enter the birth portal and then crossing over to the other side into a new existence, a new identity, a new way of being.
A mother’s blessing is meant to inspire and encourage the expectant mom just before she gives birth to baby.
It’s very ceremonial—guests may be asked to bring two things: a poem, song, prayer, or scripture about pregnancy, birth or motherhood; and a bead to symbolize fertility, birth or motherhood.
A mother’s blessing is typically held at the very end of pregnancy — around 36 to 38 weeks — and about 10 to 20 of your closest friends and family are invited. It can be facilitated in conjunction with your baby shower or in lieu of a baby shower.
